Bolivia to Promote Products in Japan

La Paz - Bolivia will promote its textiles, fine arts and jewels in a September Japanese fair, says Domestic Trade and Exports Vice minister Homayra Condarco.

Quoting Condarco, Cambio daily said the government and companies are readying samples to take to the fair and registering large and small exporters willing to participate.

The official said they would also motivate the presentation of agricultural produce.

Another potential market for Bolivian textiles is Paraguay, which will also host a fair this month, she said.

Bolivia seeks new markets to overcome the problem created by the government of US ex President George W. Bush and the unilateral exclusion in 2008 of Bolivia from the benefits of the ATPDEA tariff program.

Since then, Venezuela emerged as main market for Bolivian textiles, following the signing of contracts worth millions within the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas (ALBA).
