2,000 Jobs Available In Guanacaste: Tourism, Construction, Agribusinesses
(Infocom) — The great demand for workers in the province of Guanacaste has led a group of businesses and organizations to get together with the goal of better advertising positions available in various sectors of the economy.

Joining this effort are business and workforce-development entities, such as the Tourism Professionals Association (ACOPROT) and the National Learning Institute (INA), which have taken to preparing specialized personnel in the areas experiencing the highest demand in the province — including tourism, construction and administrative personnel.

Together, all of these organizations will provide information about current job openings at the 2008 Guanacaste Employment Fair, to be held next Oct. 4-5, from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., at Mall Centro Plaza Liberia. Entrance to the fair is free.

In addition to previous editions, this time the fair won’t be exclusively centered around the tourism industry, but it also include agribusinesses and construction.

The fair will bring together more than 60 companies from the region, among them Thrifty Car Rental, Hilton Papagayo Resort Costa Rica, Hotel JW Marriott, Toyota Rent a Car, Hotel Barcelo Langosta Beach, TACA Costa Rica, CATSA, Cemex Costa Rica, Constructora Volio y Trejos and Van Der Laat (see graphic for additional employers). These firms are in need of more than 2,000 workers in different positions, though most of them have to do with tourism.

Those interested in the job openings will have a chance to learn more about available positions, drop off their resumes and find information about study programs and training offered by INA, the University of Costa Rica (UCR), the National University (UNA), and ACOPROT.

The job fair is organized by ACOPROT, the Costa Rica-United States Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM), the Guanacaste Chamber of Tourism (CATURGUA), the Costa Rican Chamber of Construction (CCC), as well as by the region’s agribusiness sector, the Peninsula Papagayo tourism and real estate development project, INA, UNA and UCR.
