Nicaraguan Children
Benefiting from
Government Programs
MANAGUA - At least
3,000 children and their
relatives have benefited
from “Love”, a program
implemented in Nicaragua
less than a month ago,
government secretary of
Communication and
Citizenship Rosario
Murillo reported.
“Thanks to the
government policy, 20
Centers of Integral
Development were
rehabilitated for kids
with working mothers and
we are getting ready to
inaugurate more in
different places,” said
Murillo.
In a press release the
government adds that
this plan hopes to
return children’s right
to live in normal
conditions, with their
families and without any
risks in the streets.
It also says that this
labor is being done in
the five districts of
the city of Managua,
where the attention of
1,200 children that were
on the streets a month
ago, advances rapidly.
Next October 20th a new
process to bring around
1,800 kids out of the
streets will begin so
that in December of this
year the number of
infants rescued will be
about 4,000.
In January of next year
the experience will
start in the provinces
of Leon, Chinandega,
Granada, Matagalpa and
Esteli.
The project’s main idea
is to give back kids
their rights, but also
have the opportunity to
grow with the love and
care of a family.
Murillo assured that
important advances are
registered in
specialized attention to
infants in the country
and during the month of
November 10 centers will
be inaugurated of the 20
previously planned.
