Panama:Tribute to
Barbados Crime Victims
PANAMA - Panamanians
from groups devoted to
study the life and work
of Jose Marti laid a
wreath to pay tribute to
victims of the blowing
up of a Cuban civil
plane in Barbados in
1976, when all 73 people
on board were killed.
A leader of these
groups, Juan Carlos
Tomas, told Prensa
Latina that the activity
served to close the
drive for the release of
five anti-terrorist
Cuban fighters held in
US prisons.
In this regard, he also
referred to the Central
American and Caribbean
meeting of solidarity
with Cuba, held on
September 26-28 in the
city of Santiago de
Veraguas, where a
resolution demanding the
release of Gerardo
Hernandez, Ramon
Labanino, Antonio
Guerrero, Fernando
Gonzalez and Rene
Gonzalez was adopted and
the harsh sentences
imposed on them were
condemned.
Other actions included
meetings about the case
of The Five in
Panamanian universities,
attended by Cuban
jurists and diplomats.
At the Veraguas
university, Law students
showed great interest in
knowing about
irregularities in the
trial against The Five
in Miami. |
