For a while, it has been
clear to us that the
so-called suitcase
affair is a tall story,
a case fabricated by US
police and judicial
bodies to try to
discredit the Venezuelan
Government, said Maduro.
A Florida court is
handling a trial for
alleged money smuggling,
known in press reports
as the suitcase affair,
with Venezuelan-American
businessman Guido
Alejandro Antonini
Wilson as a main
defendant.
It is a trial fabricated
by the FBI and the
Miami-based judicial
mafia, always linked to
the worst causes. They
are trying to arrange a
political dossier
against important
leaders in Latin
America, the Venezuelan
top diplomat said.
The suitcase scandal
started to unfold in
August last year, when
Antonini was stopped at
Argentinian customs with
a money-stuffed suitcase
(about $800,000 cash)
allegedly intended to
support the campaign of
then Argentinian
presidential candidate
Cristina Fernandez de
