Nicaragua Increases
Power Generation
Nicaraguan President
Daniel Ortega
inaugurated the
Commander Ernesto Che
Guevara plant,
increasing power
generation by 20
megawatts.
Multinoticias TV morning
news said on Sunday the
new plant is located in
Las Conchitas, Masaya,
22 miles south east of
Managua.
During the plant
inauguration, Ortega and
the Cuban ambassador to
Nicaragua Luis Hernandez
unveiled a bust of Che
Guevara.
In his address, Ortega
said Nicaragua will
boost its energy system
relying on renewable
energy sources, namely
geothermic,
hydroelectric and wind,
and reminded that
without such
break-through, the
country would still be
dark.
The statesman also
lashed at the European
Union recent immigration
measures.
He also received the
credential letters from
the new ambassadors of
Venezuela Sergio
Rodriguez and Ecuador's
Antonio Vidoyes.
