Argentina Labour Union
Backs Government
The General
Confederation of Labor (CGT),
Argentina's largest
trade union, on Tuesday
reiterated its support
for the government,
calling upon its members
to attend an act in
front of Casa Rosada.
The organization issued
a release signed by its
general secretary Hugo
Moyano, calling to
attend the
pro-government act,
clearly denying press
rumors last night that
CGT was not supporting
the PJ (Justicialista
Party) call.
“CGT calls for all
workers to march towards
Plaza de Mayo on
Wednesday, in defense of
the national, popular
government,” The text
reads.
“It will be to demand
the end of the
destabilizing campaign
through road cuts, which
affect the majority of
the Argentine people,
especially the
neediest,” it added.
Referring to the lockout
on grain sales started
by the Linking
Commission of the four
main employers
organizations Sunday
midnight, CGT Human
Rights Secretary Julio
Piumato consider it an
attempt to destabilize
the government elected
by the people.
