Panama Government Staff Evacuated After Bomb Threat
A false bomb threat caused alarm and prompted a staff evacuation in the Panamanian Labor Ministry headquarters here, police said Tuesday.

Authorities ordered the staff evacuation as a precautionary measure after an anonymous call was received on the police emergency line warning about the existence of a bomb in the building.

Specialized staff were later sent to the site to detect the supposed explosives.

No statement had been released until Monday but officials said it was only a false alarm.

Violence and crime in Panama are on the rise due to the activities of international drug trafficking cartels.
