El Salvador Spurns
US-Cuba Blockade
Strong condemnation of
the US blockade of Cuba
was included in the
final document of the
Congress of solidarity
with Cuba closing today
in San Salvador.
"Dark interests can
attack a people just for
daring to fight the
cruelest and most
powerful empire on
Earth," says the text.
Signed by over 200
guests, the document
demands the release of
five Cuban
anti-terrorists
imprisoned in the US,
and pledges to engage in
a tireless fight to
bring them back home.
The Congress
congratulated the
government and people of
Cuba on the 55th
anniversary of the
attack on Mancada
Barracks and upcoming
50th anniversary of the
triumph of the
Revolution.
They also greeted
Commander in Chief Fidel
Castro who has devoted
his entire life to
defending the poor of
the world.
The Final Declaration
highlights the spirit of
solidarity of the
Caribbean Island where
young students from
around the world,
including El Salvador,
benefit from
scholarships.
Cuba has sent thousands
of professionals to work
in every continent in
social projects, 75 per
cent in health care.
The Congress of
Solidarity with Cuba
closes Saturday honoring
July 26, an important
day for the Island, with
a march through San
Salvador's historic
section to end at Jose
Marti Plaza. |
