Over 14,000 Guatemalans Expelled from US
The number of Guatemalans cast out so far this year from the US currently amounts to 14,036, resulting from toughened migratory laws and chasing of illegal people in that country.

Those repatriated denounced having suffered maltreatments and human rights violations once detained by the migratory authorities.

Maria Garcia affirmed she was separated from her daughters, and had her hands and feet chained for a day, as if she were a criminal.

Meanwhile, Jorge Vasquez pointed out he had been living in the US for over 20 years, but was unable get their identity papers, so he was detained and expelled.

“The only family I have in Guatemala is a sister-in-law, because the others are in the US,” stated Vasquez after his arrival at the La Aurora International Airport, along with another 122 migrants onboard the flight 168 so far this year.

Foreign Minister Haroldo Rodas explained yesterday in Congress his ministry has resources to hire only two lawyers, one in Los Angeles and another in San Francisco, to give legal advice to Guatemalans immigrants.
