Havana: U.S. Instigating
Anti-Cuba Activities
Cuba on Wednesday
accused the U.S.
government of
encouraging new
anti-government
activities as the latest
evidence of the U.S.
subversive strategy to
overthrow the Cuban
government.
Anti-government groups,
instigated by U.S.
diplomats in Havana,
have intensified their
moves in recent weeks to
organize and fund
provocative actions in
Cuba, in violation of a
bilateral accord and the
international law, the
Cuban Foreign Ministry
was quoted by the
official daily Granma as
saying.
The ministry accused
U.S. diplomats of giving
personal attention to
counter-revolutionary
ring leaders, visiting
their homes and
conducting
semi-clandestine
meetings to provide
instructions.
It also denounced the
journalism courses given
by professors from a
university in Florida,
saying the courses were
hostile to the Cuban
government.
The U.S. is helping
organize new illegal
activities in the
Caribbean island and "it
is instigating its
mercenaries in Cuba to
stage provocative
activities in the
streets around July 4
(U.S. Independence
Day)," the ministry
said.
These actions are proof
of the U.S.
administration's despair
at repeated failures of
its anti-Cuba actions,
it added.
The ministry called on
the United States to
stop such interference,
vowing that Cuba will
not tolerate the
continuation of those
provocative and illegal
acts.
