9.000 Nicaraguans Ejected in 17 Days
Costa Rican immigration authorities say they have ejected 9.000 Nicaraguans during the last 17 days who attempted to remain in the country after entering the country illegally.

Immigration officials say that during December 21, 2007 and January 6, 2008, some 530 Nicarguans were rejected daily.

The numbers for the last 10 days (January 6 to 16) are believed to be much higher when the immigration service reveals its findings, party due to an intensified operation against illegals.

During the Christmas holidays some 60.000 Nicaraguans left Costa Rica and then returned, some bringing with them family and friends in search for work.
