Ecuador Conspiracy Grabs
Attention
Destabilizing plans
against the Ecuadorian
government and the
constituent Assembly to
hinder the process of
change have attracted
national attention.
Several government
officials warned about
opposition tactics to
finish off the process
of changes the country
is undergoing.
Acosta said on Wednesday
powerful rightwing
groups are desperate and
seek to stop the
people's Revolution by
all means within their
reach.
Besides Acosta, the
government coordinator
with the constituent
Assembly Augusto Barrera
confirmed a conspiracy
to undermine progress in
this country.
The conservative groups
were caught trying to
buy off 15 Assembly
members of Alianza Pais
to topple that
organization from its
majority status and
hinder changes in this
Andean nation, he said.
He explained that they
wanted to suppress the
Constituent Assembly,
reestablish the
Congress, and cause
President Rafael
Correa's dismissal.
