Venezuelan Notables Defend PDVSA Oil Firm
Over 100 Venezuelan intellectuals expressed on Friday their support for state-run oil firm PDVSA (Petroleos de Venezuela) against the aggression from US Exxon Mobil, which is seeking an asset freezing.

In a public statement, they describe the action of the US oil firm as an act of media-financial terrorism to punish Venezuela for the nationalization of the country"s main natural resource.

It recalls that, as a consequence of a submissive policy, Exxon Mobil had a stake in a holding to tap the Orinoco Oil Strip and took part in actions of corruption, extortion and environmental pollution.

The intellectuals accuse the transnational of plotting against Venezuelan institutions, involvement in the coup against President Hugo Chavez and evading taxes.

The declaration has been signed by Roman Chalboud, former Vice President Jose Vicente Rangel, Lil Rodriguez, Aram Aharonian, Luis Britto, Carlos Azpurua, Ali Rodriguez Araque, Eva Golinger, Tarek Wiliam Saab and Esteban Emilio Mosonyi.
