the 27th plenary session
of the Permanent
Conference of Latin
American and Caribbean
Political Parties (COPPPAL).
The aim of the meeting,
to be run until
Saturday, is to analyze
urgent regional problems
like poverty and energy
crisis, organizers told
Prensa Latina.
Torrijos is one of the
vice presidents of the
organization and general
secretary of the
Democratic Revolutionary
Party (PRD).
Speeches by the COPPPAL
president, Argentinean
Peron Senator Antonio
Cafiero and PRD general
assistant secretary Juan
Carlos Navarro, and the
delivery of the Luis
Donaldo Colosio Latin
American Merit Order to
Tomas Borges, from the
Sandinista Front for
National Liberation of
Nicaragua are included
in the agenda.
Also on the list are the
Colombia military attack
on Ecuador, the
independence of Puerto
Rico and Netherlands
Antilles, social
justice, and the Latin
American role in the new
world context.
A resolution of
solidarity with five
Cuban anti-terrorist
fighters unfairly
imprisoned in United
States since 1998 and
condemned to long
sentences will be also
tackled in this event. |
