Customs Operations At Peñas Blancas To Be Interrupted With Arrival of "Independence Torch"
The arrival of the "independence torch" this Thursday is forcing the Ministerio de Hacienda to adjust its hours and will restrict vehicular traffic for a time through the Peñas Blancas customs check point.

The torch will be arriving from Nicaragua commemorating the 186th anniversary of independence.

Thursday, September 13th, the torch will cross the Nicaragua - Costa Rica border around 8:00am and according to a Hacienda communications, vehicles will not be allowed to enter the customs area until 5:00pm on that day and will be enforced by members of the Fuerza Pública (police).

The torch should leave the border control post by 5:00pm and Hacienda says that customs operations will return to normal by 7:00pm.

The communications explains that cargo vehicle traffic will be regulated until the torch arrives and is asking companies not to ship perishables on that day.

Independence day is September 15th and will be celebrated throughout Central America.
