The Sun Shines Again on Guanacaste
After 15 days of constant rain that flooded many parts of Guanacaste, the sun finally shone, if only for a few hours.

The Instituto Meteorológico Nacional (IMN) - the weatherman - is predicting more sunshine for the province in the coming days as the expected tropical wave that was supposed have dumped more water on the country passed us by.

According to meteorologist  Rosario Alfaro the tropical wave is gone.

"It will continue to rain, especially in the afternoons, but that is normal conditions for October, not because of any other factors, like a tropical wave", confirmed Alfaro from her office in San José yesterday.

The IMN warns that although the sun will shine bright and strong in the mornings, residents still have to take precautions against flooding and mudslides.

More than 2.000 people are still living in shelters after the areas of Filadelfia and around Santa Cruz were flooded due to the Tempisque river overflowing its banks.

The Comisión Nacional de Emergencias (CNE) - national emergency commission - along with the Cruz Roja (Red Cross) are working to help the affected.

The Asociación para la Protección Animal de Costa Rica (animal protection association) has also sent veterinarians to help out with the animals affected by the flooding, attending to livestock as well as dogs and cats to help prevent rabies.
