Cuban Election
Process Satisfactory
Chair of Cuba's National
Electoral Commission
Marķa Esther Reus
described as
satisfactory the
undergoing process
countrywide for
elections on October 21.
She told Radio Rebelde
that the electoral
schedule has been
fulfilled in every
phase, with the only
exception of the dynamic
trial, which had to be
postponed in eastern
Cuba because of heavy
rain.
She explained that since
general elections were
called, there has been
an intensive popular
movement, with great
participation,
discipline and
cooperation of citizens
in the electoral
commissions.
This is reflected in
turnout of over 85
percent of possible
voters in the meetings
to nominate their
candidates to delegates
(councilors) to
municipality assemblies
of the People's Power,
she commented.
Reus termed successful
the rehearsal carried
out last Sunday in
western Cuba, even
though there were some
difficulties currently
under solution, mainly
in telephone
communication.
She reiterated that a
test will be carried out
in the six eastern
provinces worst-hit by
heavy rain on Thursday. |
