Teletón A Total Success!
Though the weather was
not the greatest this
weekend, with rain on
and off Satuday night
and into Sunday morning,
the annual "teletón"
(telethon) to raise
money for sick children,
was a total success.
Surpassing the goal of
¢400 million colones,
the telethon raised
¢416.211.829 colones
(us$832.423 dollars)
which will be used to
buy equipment for the
Centro de Cuidados
Críticos del Hospital de
Sonrisas.
The purchase of hospital
equipment will help some
7.000 children.
The telethon kicked off
Friday night at 9:00pm
in the Palacio de los
Deportes, Heredia, and
ending Sunday morning.
In addition to the music
and dance of national
artists and the magic of
internationally known
magician, Juan, items of
the famous like David
Bisbal, Rohnadinho and
RBD, were also auctioned
off.
The Girl and Boy Scouts
organization in Costa
Rica presented the
telethon a cheque for
¢95 million colones,
fruit of their work
throughout the year.
