Rob Victims
Television channel 7's "Telenoticias"
put a face to a thief
who used a little girl
as an accomplice in his
a number of robberies,
as the number of
complaints continue to
pour in as the man's
identity was shown on
television.
Apparently, the man used
a number of identities
and guises to distract
his true nature of the
visit to retail stores
and including a car
dealership while the
little girl would commit
the actual robbery.,
In one complaint, the
man posed as Cartago
farmer with the
intention of buying a
luxury SUV while the
nine year old girl stole
the salesperson cellular
telephone.
The incident was caught
on a security camera,
that clearly shows the
little girl swiping the
cellphone. Another
security camera, this
time in a print shop,
caught the face of the
man and broadcast on
national television.
Following the broadcast,
dozens of complaints
have poured in against
the 39 year old man who
is a resident of San
Ramón de Alajuela and
has a long police
record. The little girl
is nine years old and is
the daughter of a former
spouse of the suspect.
The thefts are mainly
small items like
cellular phones and
electronic devices that
can be easily snatched
and carry without
detection.
Because the man has not
been apprehended, the
television news report
did not publish the
man's name. However,
officials of the PANI -
the child welfare agency
- said they are looking
into the case, while
police search for the
man.
