Fidel Castro Meets With Kofi Annan
Cuba's President Fidel Castro met with United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan, who arrived in Havana to attend the 14th Summit of the Non Aligned Movement, official sources reported early Friday.

In the friendly Thursday evening meeting, the Cuban Commander in Chief and the UN top representative exchanged points of view on the importance of the NAM Summit and other key international topics such as the situation in the Middle East and Africa s current reality.

The Cuban president thanked Annan for his presence in the Caribbean country and gave him an autographed volume of the Cuban second edition of the book "One Hundred Hours with Fidel" and the pamphlet with the English version of chapter 24 of that book.

In one of the dedications Fidel said: "To Kofi Annan with our most sincere appreciation", Granma daily emphasized.

Foreign Affairs Minister Felipe Perez Roque and Cuban Ambassador to the UN Rodrigo Malmierca also took part in the one-hour meeting.
