Violation of Union Deals is Denounced
Experts from the International Labour Organization denounced on
Saturday that mass labour
agreements are ignored in Costa
Rica since the unionization of
private sector workers is
banned.
ILO foreign consultant Adrian
Goldin said that those serious
problems are being seen since
various years ago in the Costa
Rican nation and they still
remain.
Goldin noted that the Costa Rica will change its
international position as it
implements changes.
The consultant added that ILO is
extremely worried about the
number of direct deals made with
no union workers and the reduced
quantity of mass agreements in
the private sector, a situation
that has not been seen in other
nation.
The International Labour
Organization is the UN
specialized agency which seeks
the promotion of social justice
and internationally recognized
human and labour rights. It was
founded in 1919 and is the only
surviving major creation of the
Treaty of Versailles which
brought the League of Nations
into being and it became the
first specialized agency of the
UN in 1946.
The ILO promotes the development
of independent employers' and
workers' organizations and
provides training and advisory
services to those organizations.
