Obtain Cellular Service Directly

Thinking of getting a cellular
phone in Costa Rica? No problem
as long as you a resident. That
has been the standing policy by
the Instituto Costarricense de
Electricidad (ICE) - the state
monopoly on telecommunications -
for foreigners wanting to
connect to the cellular network.

from San José commences, as many
head for the beach for Semana
Santa while others head for the
mountains. Resort and hotel
operators report to be fully
booked and the few rooms
available will cost almost
double the normal rate.

The exodus to the beaches and
mountains begins tomorrow when
some 2 million people are
expected to be on the move for
the Semana Santa holiday. And
the Policía de Tránsito (Traffic
Police) will be out in full
force all week and use a zero
tolerance with respect to
drinking and driving.
