The Wait is Almost Over
Apple’s revolutionary iPhone™ will go on sale today at 6:00 p.m. at Apple® retail stores nationwide. All 164 Apple retail stores in the US will stay open until midnight, and customers can purchase up to two iPhones on a first come, first served basis.

Beginning Saturday morning, iPhone owners can learn how to get the most out of their new iPhone with free, in-depth workshops offered throughout the day at all Apple retail stores. Every Apple retail store will offer free support for iPhone at the Genius Bar and personal training through Apple’s new One to One program.

The iPhone™ will also be available today in Britain, Japan, Canada and Italy, but not in Costa Rica, a country that places 3rd in the world for per capita cellular phone usage.

The iPhone™ is a quad-band GSM phone and will work around the world, though we are sure that our beloved Instituto Costarricense de Electricidad (ICE) will find ways to ensure that owners of the iPhone™ will not be able to enjoy all the great features of the  iPhone™.

Putting that aside, the excitement over the  iPhone™ is not only the it functions as a camera phone, a multimedia player, but it also connects to the internet allowing browsing of web pages and supports email standards like IMAP and POP3 that can access popular email services like Yahoo! Mail, Google Gmail, AOL and Mac Mail.

In addition, the  iPhone™ is a fully operational cellular phone with a touch screen, virtual keyboard and buttons, using 2G technology.

Apple Costa Rica, the exclusive distributor of Appel products in Costa Rica has yet to announced when the  iPhone™  will be available for sale here.
