Chain to be Expropriated
CARACAS - The retail chain "Éxito" will be
expropriated because of speculation and
robbing the people ratified on Monday Trade
Minister Eduardo Saman, a day after
president Hugo Chavez made the announcement
in this regard.
At least in four of the six stores of that
transnational company it was found that
prices of products were adulterated.
In "Cada" supermarket chain associated to
Exito, the issue is worse because there are
speculations with the meat and basic need
products and restrictions in the offer, said
Saman when interviewed in the show "Despertó
Venezuela" (Venezuela Awakened). During the
mentioned program broadcasted by Venezolana
de Television, Saman pointed out the
situation is so delicate that no other
alternative but to expropriate.
According to the Minister the same employees
of this chain of transnational commerce,
will now be the ones to work for the state.
In his view "We can continue to allow a
group of business people to make fun of the
people because we must use this means of
distribution to transport our people's goods
or services.
Chavez ordered the expropriation of Exito
and Sambil mall located in La Candelaria
area in Caracas, to serve as a basis for the
Corporation for Social Markets (COMERSA)
which the government launched on December.
That may be COMERSA initial network and
let's see how all prices will fall in Exito
chain, said the president during Alo
Presidente.
He pointed out in COMERSA there will be
Popular Economy markets, shops of the
Bolivarian Alliance and a network of
socialist Areperas.
He also added there will be subsidiaries of
wholesale markets, fairs and Social
Pharmacy.
