Peru, Chile, Colombia Stock Market Integration Expected Dec 2011

LIMA (Dow Jones) - The integration of the Peruvian, Chilean and Colombian stock markets should be completed by December 2011, an official with Peru's securities regulator said Friday.

"The first phase of the integration should be completed in November 2010, and the second phase by December 2011," said Raul Aza, vice president of Peruvian regulatory agency Conasev, at a press conference following the second working meeting of representatives from the regulators of the three stock exchanges.

The meeting in Lima was also attended by Roberto Borras, director of Colombia's financial regulatory body, the SFC, and Armando Massarente, the director of stocks for Chile's securities regulator, the SVS.

"We are very satisfied with the results of this meeting," which dealt with harmonization of regulatory, market and technical issues, Aza said.

At the meeting a second memorandum of understanding, which aims to establish methods of information exchange, was signed.

A third working meeting is scheduled to be held in Bogota on June 21-22.
