China Hopeful of Latin
America-East Asia Forum
BEJING - China has confirmed the
participation of Foreign Minister Yang
Jiechi at the 4th Latin America- East Asia
Cooperation Forum, to open Saturday in
Tokyo, hoping good results.
Representatives from 33 countries are
expected to attend the meeting, and one of
the main issues will be "Economic and
Financial Crisis and Social Inclusion," as
well as others such as environment and
sustainable development.
The chancellery's spokeswoman, Jiang Yu,
recalled the forum has played a positive
role in developing understanding and
bilateral cooperation, as the only official
political association between the two
regions.
When referring to the Chinese presence at
the forum, she pointed out China is willing
to work with others for the wellbeing of
peoples from both zones, and recalled
Beijing has an active participation in that
mechanism, which also allows strengthening
links in such sectors as trade, culture, and
education.
