Bachelet: "Chile Is a
Peace Loving Country"
SANTIAGO DE CHILE - Chile is a peace loving
country, does not have demands regarding any
of its neighboring countries and will use
its military means only in case of self
defense, President Bachelet said.
She pointed out that it is about "a more
effective defense, more efficient and
integrated in a dissuasion effort and not in
an aggression one".
The President participated in the
presentation of the "Third Book of National
Defense" which she described as "an act of
transparency to our country and to the
world".
She stated the book heads "the encouragement
to continue with the development of the
defense of our public politics on the same
wavelength with the world changes and with
present needs".
Bachelet insisted that the National Defense
"works on behalf of the cooperation and
regional integration which binds its
security and prosperity to international
stability".
She remembered that during her running as
Minister of Defense the Second Book of
National Defense was written and in 1997 was
written the first one. "Pioneer on the
effort to deal with the defense politics in
an explicit way, proper from a democracy
which assumes normally the challenges of the
country" she said. |
