Wrestling Diva Returns To Her Costa Rican
Roots
Rosa Mendes, a professional wrestler and one
of the WWE Divas featured on USA Network's "WWE
Raw" will be in Costa Rica on February 13,
as part of “Road to Wrestlemania” tour.
An overzealous fan with a dream come true,
Rosa Mendes began her WWE career from the
other side of the stands. Wildly waving her
"I (heart) Beth" signage and vehemently
cheering on the dominant Glamazon for weeks,
Rosa Mendes's support eventually turned
problematic for WWE security personnel.
Leaping barricades, Rosa Mendes found
herself physically involved in Beth
Phoenix's bouts, as a way to sustain her
Diva idol's supremacy.
Rosa Mendes' real name is Milena Leticia
Roucka, a Canadian former model and current
professional wrestler of Czech and Costa
Rican descent.
Roucka's first appearance in the WWE was
participating in the 2006 Diva Search.
Despite her finishing fourth, WWE decided to
hire Roucka along with several eliminated
contestants. She was assigned to train in
Ohio Valley Wrestling, and then gradually
started to wrestle in Florida Championship
Wrestling under the ring name Roucka.
On the November 24, 2008 episode of Raw,
Roucka appeared as a planted fan holding a
sign proclaiming she was the then-WWE
Women's Champion Beth Phoenix's number one
fan. For a few weeks after that she was
continually shown in the crowd holding signs
supporting Phoenix.
On the December 22 episode of Raw Santino
Marella introduced her as "Rosa Mendes", and
the following week, Mendes jumped from the
crowd and attacked the new number one
contender, Melina, to help Phoenix during a
fight.
On October 12, 2009, WWE's official website
announced that Mendes had been traded from
Raw to the ECW brand.
