Costa Rica Proves Just That For Hedge Fund
Greatwater Investment Management, a hedge
fund investing in Costa Rica’s tourism
industry, has certainly lived up to the
first part of its name in its first year.
The firm’s Greatwater Fund returned 69.6%
last year, HedgeCo.net reports. The fund
invests primarily in Costa Rica, where it
owns a hotel and is planning a resort
development.
“Our strategies are working better than
expected,” Richard Lackey, managing
director, said, “Our first hotel has gone
from a ranking of 48 out of 80 to number 1
in eighteen months, surpassing our five year
expectations. I am even more confident now
that this unique space will continue to
offer a low volatility opportunity to fund
of funds and others wanting exposure in
Latin America.”
The fund is also in talks about creating a
reality television series about designing
luxury tree houses.
Greatwater, which has an eight- to 10-year
lifespan, with distributions expected in
five, charges 2% for management and 25% for
performance for retail investors. There is a
$100,000 minimum investment.
