Deputies Absent from Guatemalan Congress
GUATEMALA - The Congress of Guatemala
fulfilled on Monday just half its objective
for these first days of 2010, as doors
opened to the public, but deputies were
absent.
The legislators were supposed to return to
their posts after a long year-end break,
with plenty of work waiting for them, but it
seems holidays took their toll, an analyst
consulted by Prensa Latina said ironically.
They continue being irresponsible, the
analyst said in reference to the large
number of projects pending discussion in
Congress, many of them of great significance
for the nation.
For the moment, a meeting has been called
for tomorrow, only to decide whether it is
possible to hold special sessions or just
wait until January 14, when a new Board of
Directors is expected to take on. |
