Nicaragua: Disability Studies Continued
MANAGUA - Cuban-Nicaraguan brigade All with
Voice continues the study to identify the
causes of the disability of 10 percent of
the population of the Central American
country.
Islanders specialists alongside national
colleagues, most of them graduated in the
Latin American School of Medicine (ELAM) in
Cuba, began the crusade in the department of
Managua after finishing in the final days of
2009 in the region of Chinandega.
After completing its work in Masaya where it
was detected 4.862 people with disabilities
and made 20.333 domestic controls in the
campaign against dengue fever, the Cuban
doctor moved their work to Matagalpa.
From Matagalpa, one of the most difficult
areas for its mountainous conditions and
difficult geography, they went to Chinandega
were also carried the psychological,
pedagogical and clinical genetic study to
people with disabilities.
According to Dr. Miladys Orraca coordinator
of the group, so far they have treated about
22.196 people with problems and found
solutions to most critical cases with the
assistance of the government of President
Daniel Ortega.
After visiting around 39.000 homes with the
assistance of the authorities and the bodies
of Citizen Power in the three departments,
the brigade will work in the towns of
Tipitapa northeast of the capital and San
Francisco Libre, north across Lake Managua.
In his eagerness to serve "the most
forgotten sector of society" as qualified by
the Health Minister Guillermo Gonzalez, the
brigade will move to the municipalities of
Ciudad Sandino, Mateare, Villa el Carmen, El
Crucero and Ticuantepe.
The groups of 68 Cuban specialists plan to
complete its management in the capital's
department within 45 days and end up in
Managua as a municipality taking care of the
urban and semi-rural area of the capital.
According to Secretary General of Ministry
of Health Enrique Beteta, this program of
care for the disabled is a solidarity
project of the Cuban and Sandinista
revolution that will touch the door of every
house in the country to restore once again
the right of others to a health quality.
Vice Minister of Health of Cuba Marcia Cobas,
believes that the study shows when we join
there is no not fulfilled task, words that
inspire the Cuban and Nicaraguan doctors. |
