Honduran
Army Chief Sees Quick
Solution To Crisis
Tegucigalpa - The de
facto chief of the Honduran armed forces,
Romero Vasquez Velasquez, said on Tuesday
that the solution to the political crisis in
his country is near and urged the
conflicting sides to continue their
dialogue.
"We as an institution have the obligation to
support our superiors in this dialogue and
the result of it," Velasquez told local
media.
"I see that we are reaching a solution fast,
which all of us are waiting," he added.
According to Velasquez, the solution could
be achieved as long as there is a
disposition from both sides to dialogue.
Meanwhile, the Association of Mass Media of
Honduras has rejected measures taken by the
government to close the opposition press in
the country as it considered those measures
would lead toimpeding the freedom of speech.
The association comprises major mass media
organization in Honduras, including four
dailies, two radio stations and two TV
channels. |
