Priest Goes Missing in Southwestern
Colombia
BOGOTA – A parish priest in the southwestern
Colombian town of San Agustin went missing
after leaving for a mission in the
surrounding rural area, ecclesiastical
officials in the region said Saturday.
The whereabouts of Jose Hilario Imbachi has
been a mystery since Thursday night, Oscar
Lozano Rojas, a regional church official,
told Efe.
Lozano said that the San Agustin parish
priest went to the rural area of this town
in Huila province after celebrating Mass
Thursday night.
Imbachi “went to say another Mass and hasn’t
come back,” Lozano said, adding that the
priest went alone in the parish SUV that was
found the next day abandoned along a country
road.
“We’ve heard nothing, and we can’t get
through to him on his cell phone,” Lozano
said.
He added that as far has he knows there have
been no threats against the 42-year-old
Imbachi. |
