BAYAMON, Puerto Rico - Brittney Page of Vernon, B.C., scored 16 points to lead Canada to a 25-17, 25-16, 25-22 victory over Costa Rica on Saturday in a consolation semifinal at the women's volleyball NORCECA Championships.

Canada bettered its overall tournament record to two wins and three losses and faces Mexico on Sunday for fifth place.

Page garnered her points on 11 spikes and five blocks.

Tiffany Dodds of Lucky Lake, Sask., and Marisa Field of Kelowna, B.C., added eight points apiece while Kristina Fabris of Sudbury, Ont., scored five points on four spikes and a service ace.

Canada once again showed its superiority in blocking skills earning 14 points total on blocks compared to six for Costa Rica. Canada also had five service aces.

In the other consolation semifinal, Mexico defeated Trinidad and Tobago 25-20, 25-16, 25-16.

Sunday's fifth place tilt will be a rematch from the world championship qualifying tournament earlier this month in which Canada beat the Mexicans in five sets.

Six of the eight countries, including Canada, have qualified for next year's world championships.
