Bolivian Senator Demands USAID End
La Paz - The senator of the Governmental
Movement Towards Socialism (MAS) Ricardo
Diaz demanded closure in Bolivia of the US
Agency for International Development (USAID)
accused of interference in the internal
affairs.
The Cambio newspaper noted that Diaz
affirmed that on behalf of the alleged
justice the Agency is making politics in
favor of the opposition in the South
American nation and against the government.
In that sense it emphasized USAID
questioning of the current Political
Constitution of the State in force since
last February.
The parliamentarian also considered there is
not an important contribution for the
country further away from the private
enrichment of foreign advisers. This week
the Executive announced cease of activities
of the projects of the Justice Integration
Centers (CIJ) and strengthening of
Democratic Institutions (FIDEM) that
operates with at least 14 million dollars.
So far USAID has given economic cooperation
and technical assistance to the Bolivian
justice, the Justice Ministry, Attorney
General, Supreme Court of Justice,
Constitutional Court, Judiciary Council and
the National Agrarian Court.
Bolivia and United States are working for
returning both nations relations to normal
which have been tense since 2008 with the
expulsion of Ambassador Philip Goldberg and
the Antidrug Agency (DEA) accused here of
conspiracy against the Executive.
The links with the northern country have
been deteriorated since last November when
Washington decided to cancel rules of import
duties preferences for manufacture and
Bolivian textile.
President Evo Morales decried his peer

report questioning the results of antidrug
fight in Bolivia.
Morales revealed that USAID backs electoral
campaign of his rivals Cochabamba ex civil
governor Manfred Reyes Villa and his Vice
Precedence Candidate Pando ex civil governor
Leopoldo Fernandez who is in prison for
being held responsible of a farmers'
