Accident Injures 15 Chilean
Soldiers
Santiago - A military
vehicle turned over Sunday morning in
southern Chile, injuring 15 soldiers on
board.
The vehicle, with 40 Chilean soldiers
aboard, crashed into a wall and turned over
on the Y-290 road linking the Torres del
Paine National Park to Magallanes after the
brake failed, the police said.
The vehicle, belonging to No. 5 Reinforced
Lancers Regiment, was part of a caravan that
carried soldiers for a visit to the national
park.
Marco Andres Perez, 19, suffered the most
severe injuries with a pelvic fracture and a
bruise in chest. He has been taken to the
Surgeon Guzman Navy Hospital in Punta Arena
for treatment.
The driver was bailed out, but he has to
give testimony scheduled for Tuesday. |
