Best of Costa Rica Featured In Innovative Advertising Campaign

The Instituto Nacional de la Publicidad (INPUB) - National Institute of Advertising - has launched a campaign to allow the four million plus Ticos to say what they feel about their country.

The website http://www.quierosalirenelanunciodemipais.com (quiero salir en el anuncio de mi pais - I want to be in the ad of my country) allows anyone with a cellular phone, video camera or webcam to record a "positive" video message about Costa Rica and upload it.

Visitors can see the videos, cast their votes for their favorites and offer their comments. Videos with the most votes will be judged on creativity and originality and the best video will be used in television and radio commercials.

The rules are clear, messages must not contain negative content, foul language, nudity and plain bad taste and will be eliminated. The uploaded videos that attempt to cast a commercial, religious or political message will also be discarded. Also, the uploaded videos cannot infringe any laws, like copyright or the rights of third parties.

The INPUB campaign is to be free of political, religious and commercial messages, but rather to allow Costa Ricans to tell positive things about their country.

The campaign has been running since August 15 and will continue until October 15, when a winner of the most favorite or best video will be chosen.

As of today a total of 19.347 people have uploaded their videos. You can also send yours, all you need is to:

1. Record a message using your cellular phone, webcam or video cameras

2. The message must be one of peace, hope, well being and motivation

3. The campaign does not include political, religious or commercial messages.

The website is totally in Spanish, but quite easy to navigate, just click on any video to see it.

"Subir videos" is to upload videos (you must enter your name, email, age and where you live); "los mas vistos" is the most seen; "los favoritos", is favourites; "anuncios tv", is the television commercials.

Enjoy.
