Police Lack Resources To Combat Drug
Trafficking
Drug trafficking is one of the major
problems facing Costa Ricans, but despite
this fact the resources received by the drug
police is minimal.
It is unbelievable that less than 200 police
officials are specialized in fighting the
war on drugs in Costa Rica, a country were
drug cartels are assumed to move more than
1.000 tons cocaine, doing business of more
than half a billion dollars.
In actuality there are only 183 officials
assigned to the Policia de Control de Drogas
(PCD).
The ministerio de Seguridad Pública blames
this on the lack of financial help by the
United States.
