Urges "Agile" Discussion On
Security At Regional Meeting

Foreign Minister Fander Falconi on Tuesday
urged an "agile" discussion on regional
security issues at the extraordinary
ministers' meeting of the Union of South
American Nations (Unasur) being held here.
During the inauguration of the Unasur
extraordinary meeting, Falconi urged the
attendants to "center on the points marked
for achieving agility and richness in the
proposals."
Unasur foreign and defense ministers met on
Tuesday to discuss ways to reduce the
military tension in the region due to the
Colombia-U.S. military cooperation agreement
and Venezuela's decision to buy Russian
weapons.
According to Falconi, the ministers will
discuss a six-point document, which proposed
exchanging information about regional
security, such as defense spending, in order
to boost trust and transparency among the
countries in the region.
The document also proposed "consultation and
cooperation in military activities," Falconi
said.
