
1.7 Million Ticos
To Receive Free AH1N1 Vaccine
The ministra de Salud, María Luisa Ávila,
says that 1.7 million Costa Ricans will be
vaccinated, free of cost, against the AH1N1
flu virus as soon as the vaccine is
available in the country.
Ávila explained that the first to receive
the vaccine are those in the high risk
group, the obese, hypertense, diabetics and
pregnant, for example. Also, all medical
workers, police officials, Crusrojistas (Red
Cross workers) and firefighters will be on
the priority list of vaccinations.
The ministra said she expects the vaccine to
be in Costa Rica by no later then the end of
October and will only be available for
purchase only by prescription and at
hospitals, clinics and Ebais of the Caja
Costarricense de Seguro Social.
The number of deaths from the AH1N1 flu
virus in Costa Rica is 34.
