Coach Kenton Fired
The Federación Costarricense de Fútbol (Costa Rica
Soccer Federation) fired national coach
Rodrigo Kenton on Monday.
Kenton's national team, the "sele",
has failed to score in three straight losses
in World Cup qualifying games, jeopardizing
Costa Rica's position in qualifying for
Africa in 2010.
"He was fired today. It still hasn't
been determined who will be named (in
Kenton's place)," said spokeswoman Gina
Escobar of the Federación.
Costa Rica lost three straight 2010 World
Cup qualifying matches to Honduras (4-0),
Mexico at home (3-0) and in El Salvador
(1-0) last Wednesday.
