Couva Chamber Fosters Costa Rican Ties
Costa Rica is willing and eager to
strengthen trading ties with Trinidad and
Tobago, Costa Rican High Commissioner
Ricardo Thompson said on Tuesday.
He was speaking at a breakfast meeting
hosted by the Couva/Pt Lisas Chamber of
Commerce at Plipdeco House, Pt Lisas
Industrial Estate, Couva, on trade
opportunities in the Costa Rican and Cuban
markets.
President of the Chamber, Nal Ramsingh said
the meeting was aimed at providing members
with information on trading possibilities
outside of TT and the Caribbean. During his
address, Ramsingh bemoaned the lack of
infrastructure in Central Trinidad which, he
said was hampering further development, as
he called for assistance from Government to
improve the drainage and road systems in the
area.
Boasting of what his country had to offer,
Thompson said, “My country is not paradise
but I assure you that you would like it.”
“We treat visitors in the same way that we
treat the local population and you have
places to make complaints if you face any
problems,” he said.
He also pointed out that the country had a
solid education and health system and that
there was no discrimination against
foreigners.
