Cruz Roja Discards Presence of Body In
Volcano Lagoon
The Cruz Roja Costarricense (Costa Rican Red
Cross) has ruled out that the item floating
in the lagoon of the Rincon de la Vieja
volcano is not the body of US missing
student, David Gilmfarb.
After several days of delays due to bad
weather, Cruzrojistas were able to descend
the crater to verify or discard what
appeared to be a floating body seen in an
aerial photograph of the lagoon.
What was found was a plastic debris and no
body, confirmed Guillermo Arroyo of the Cruz
Roja.
"We feel for the family of David Gilmfarb
and thank the work and efforts of the
cruzrojistas, police and park rangers", said
Miguel Carmona, president of the Cruz Roja.
Gilmfarb went missing in the Rinco de la
Vieja national park in Guanacaste on August
11 and despite efforts by Costa Rican
authorities, volunteers, friends and family,
no trace of his whereabouts have been found. |
