Nicaragua Continues Fight Against Illiteracy
Managua - Several Nicaraguan municipalities
are intent to become free of illiteracy,
informed a note of the Education Ministry
(MINED).
This was the situation in Wasiaia, one of
the 18 municipalities of the North Atlantic
Autonomous Region that did not declare
itself free of illiteracy at the same time
as the rest of the country due to its
geographic region and difficult access,
MINED explained.
Educators of Matagalpa department apply a
strategy to reduce the rate of illiteracy
and be in a position to claim freedom of
illiteracy in November, according to a goal
of the government.
The final offensive of the From Marti to
Fidel National Literacy Campaign is aimed at
reducing the rate from 10.11 to 3.20 percent
of illiteracy in this municipality.
To achieve this goal department technicians,
five municipal technicians, 23 education
coordinators, 456 professors, one Cuban and
Venezuelan advisors are working in the
region, informed authorities.
"We are in the final offensive with all our
effort to fulfill the goal; we are working
in the organization that began from
September 1 to 11 and will be in full force
on September 17 after the Homeland
Festivities" informed Miguel Zamora, leader
of the crusade in Wasaia.
The municipality is getting ready to declare
itself as Free Territory from Illiteracy on
November 8 thereby celebrating the 35th
Anniversary of the Fall in Combat of
Commandant Carlos Fonseca Amador.
For Nicaraguans the International Literacy
Day should be celebrated since they
contributed to raise literacy of 4 billion
inhabitants to world levels reaching,
emphasized a press note of the chancellery. |
