Chemicals seized in Guatemala

police seized large amount illegal chemicals
on Monday at La Aurora International Airport
in Guatemala City, news reaching here said.
More than a million tablets of chemicals
that could be used for illegal chemical
synthesis were found in 1,500 boxes at the
airport's parking lot, national civil police
spokesman Marco TulioTrejo told media.
The tablets are banned in Guatemala.
Trejo said there were no detentions and the
tablets were probably from Colombia.
So far this year, the police has seized
seven illegal shipments of such chemicals as
President Alvaro Colom pledged to crack down
on organized crime in the country.
