US Military Presence a Threat in South America

Venezuelan Deputy Israel Sotillo stated in
this capital that the United States manage
the Colombian policy, what is a serious
danger, and exemplified what happened in
Afghanistan, Somalia, Dominican Republic,
and Panama with direct interventions.
Sotillo talked Cambio newspaper of the
recent military agreement inked between the
northern power and the South American
country, as part of an empire attack, so
which regional peoples should be united.
"Sooner or later Colombia is going to give a
gasp of full liberation and join to this
progressive movement," he said.
The presence of the Venezuelan deputy in
Bolivia responds a government's initiative
to explain the accord signed between Bogota
and Washington, through which the US State
could use seven military bases in Colombian
territory.
Sotillo recalled that in the recent summit
of the Union of South American States, held
in the Argentinean city of Bariloche,
statesmen from that integrationist bloc
stated that this action could threaten
sovereignty and integrity of South American
countries.
This is a way to weaken progressive
governments, but while having people's
support, it will be impossible to oust
Bolivia's President Evo Morales, Ecuador's
Rafael Correa, or Venezuela's Hugo Chavez. |
