Bolivia, Brazil Agree on Textile Exports
La Paz - Bolivian textile exporters and
Brazilian businesspeople have agreed to do
business, as a first step to consolidate the
Brazilian market as destination for Bolivian
products.
On Thursday, Local press quoted Bolivian
Minister for Productive Development and
Plural Economy Patricia Ballivian as saying
that the commercial delegation that traveled
to Sao Paulo in late August signed contracts
valued at two million dollars, and letters
of intent at three million dollars in
exports.
Ballivian highlighted that the Brazilian
market is open to all Bolivian textile
producers, and announced that a second
business round would be held in October to
complete $21 million in exports.
In a recent visit to Bolivia, Brazilian
President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva
announced a governmental decree, allowing
duty free Bolivian exports to Brazil,
estimated at $21 million.
That figure is the equivalent to the
benefits granted by the United States until
December, through the Andean Tariff
Preference Act, the president said during
that visit. |
