Four people are
being held in connection with counterfeit
tickets for Saturday's World Cup qualifier
between Costa Rica and Mexico, after police officials reported seizing about 550
fake tickets, prompting football officials
to reissue new tickets for the match
tomorrow.
Jorge Rojas, director of the Organismo de
Investigacion Judicial (OIJ) said on
Thursday that two of the people being held
are former employees of the company
SpecialTicket, that
produced the tickets.
Joseph Ramiréz, a top local football
official, said attendance on Saturday at
Saprissa Stadium will be held at 19,500.
Saturday's match is crucial to determining
which teams reach next year's 32-team World
Cup in South Africa.
Costa Rica leads CONCACAF qualifying with 12
points, but the United States and Honduras
are right behind with 10 and Mexico has 9.
