Nacional Hikes Fees
A permit for a "salida de vehiculos" (exit
for a vehicle) used to cost a total of ¢317
colones only several months ago, the cost is
now ¢5.320 colones, with the hike of fees by
the Registro Nacional.
The hike in fees went into effect on April
23, 2009 and without much fanfare.
The hike is not only for vehicles, but all
types of services provided by the Registro.
All the services provided by the Registro
has gone up by thousands of colones.
At the Plaza Mayor branch of the Registro,
the only indication of the increase is a
notice posted on the window, a notice that
is not read by most.
Items like certifications, copies of
documents, printing of plans that used to
cost a few colones are not all in the
thousands of colones.
The increase has also in the cost of
replacing license plates, where it now cost
¢8.000 colones for a pair of new license
plates as compared to the ¢3.000 colones
only months ago.
